Red Light, Green Light

This basic soccer drill is a plan to improve each soccer player’s ability to control the ball while dribbling. You have to stand player about 20 to 30 yards away from the rest of the team. Now, give each of the other players a football and unroll them out in a straight line. The player who is standing 20 to 30 yards away is considered as the light. Once he speaks “green light,” the other players will start dribbling toward him. And if he speaks “red light,” everyone must stop dribbling. Now if any player who continues to dribble is out of the soccer game. The first player should have to pass the light wins.

Circle Drill

Circle drill will improve a soccer player’s passing abilities and accuracy. You have to create a circle out of cones with a 5- to the 6-yard radius. Now, put eight cones in the middle of the circle. There should be several players on the team pair on opposite sides of the circle. One player will kick the ball to the other and try to knock down a cone while doing so. If the ball does not approach the other player, have him get the ball and bring it back outside the circle. Now have the players kick the ball back and forth until unless all the cones are knocked down.

One on One

One-on-one drills help to improve a soccer player’s ability to dodge past defenders and work on his defensive skills. You have to place a ball between two players. On your signal, allow them race to the ball to battle for possession. Whoever gets the ball must have to continue dribbling until players pass his defender. If the player passes the defender, the player receives one point. The first player has five wins.
