There’s nothing more disadvantage to a team than a player who constantly loses the ball in important moments. In order to gain your teammates’ trust, you need to control the ball with confidence. This will enable you to move the ball throughout the field and set up your fellow players for success. If you can’t accurately control the ball, you won’t be capable of making the excellent pass or putting the ideal shot on goal.
The best soccer athletes are skilled with both feet. You will never be capable of being great if you aren’t able to change feet at a moment’s intimation to elude a defender or make a last-second hit. Here are two simple drills to improve your ball handling.

The Four-Goal Drill
Put four cones in a little square. Each side of the square should be approximately 4 feet long.
Next, Put four little goals—one in the midst of each side. If you don’t have small goals, put a pair of cones two feet to act as goals.
Mentally mark the goals number 1-4
Hold in the middle of the square and have other player or coach stand outside the square and move the ball to you.
Get the ball with your commanding foot and have the passer call out a number.
Swiftly turn and adopt the opposite foot to shoot the soccer ball into the goal. Restrict yourself to 2 total touches, the first touch to get and the hit into the goal.
Repeat this drill for 30 seconds and try the goal as many goals as you can.
This will help to improve your first touch, develop your non-dominant foot, and guide you to stay sharp and on your toes.
Two-Footed Ball Control Circuit
This second exercise is a set of ball moves you can work anytime, anywhere.
To begin, get a ball and alternating hitting the top of the ball with the bottom of your dominant foot and non-dominant foot.
Swiftly switch back and forward, tapping the top of the soccer ball. You can perform this exercise timed or for a fixed number of repetitions—I prefer the difficulty of seeing how many taps I can achieve in 30 seconds.
As soon as you’re finished with toe taps, use the core of your dominant foot and pass it swiftly to the inside of your non-dominant foot.
Repeat this, making short passes as swiftly as possible. You’ll likely run forward as you do this drill, so it’s essential to keep your head and eyes up. You can do this exercise timed or for a fixed number of repetitions—I prefer the difficulty of seeing how many passes I can achieve in 30 seconds.
Finally, use the bottom of your dominant foot to move over the ball.
Roll 5 to10 times with your dominant foot and then go back in the opposite direction by moving the ball 5 to10 times with your non-dominant foot.
My preferred way to use this circuit is by doing each drill for 30 seconds then going to the next exercise.
Repeat this circuit 5-10 times.
